Nor ‘Shekerpare’

Ingredients

  • 200 g nor cheese
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup flour – more if needed
  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 100 g margarine – room temperature
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Almonds – blanched & peeled

For the Syrup

  • 3 cups water
  • 2 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 piece lemon slice
  • 1 piece cinnamon stick

Instructions:

  • In a large bowl, mix together the dough ingredients and knead well. Add more flour if the dough is sticking to your fingers.
  • Preheat the oven to 170°C. Take walnut-sized pieces from the dough, place on a grease-proof paper-lined baking tray, and place an almond in the middle of each dessert. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the syrup by heating water, sugar, and the cinnamon stick together. Gently simmer for 15 minutes and add the lemon slices, then turn off the heat.
  • Turn off the oven, take the desserts from the oven, pour over the syrup, and place back in the warm oven for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, take the desserts back from the oven and rest at room temperature.
  • Once cold enough, chill in the fridge and serve cold.
